Use of the nuclear energy (atomic energy) as a peaceful atom has been steadily increasing in civilian applications. In the same time, the field of atomic energy use requires particular attention and observance of safety rules at the highest level.
Two structures are authorized to ensure safety in the field of atomic energy use at the state level: State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (Rosatom) and the Federal Service for the Supervision of Environment, Technology and Nuclear Management (Rostekhnadzor).
Rostekhnadzor is an authorized body for state safety regulation in the atomic energy use (federal executive body in the field of atomic energy use).
Rostekhnadzor’s scope of activity includes, among other things, licensing of activities in the field of atomic energy use (licensing of atomic energy).
Rosatom is one of the leader on the global market of nuclear technology. It consolidates assets in the field of nuclear energy, design and construction of nuclear power plants and power engineering. Being the largest generating company in Russia, it is ranked №1 internationally by the number of simultaneously built nuclear power plants abroad, providing 36% of the global market for uranium enrichment services.
Besides nuclear energy production, Rosatom’s scope of activity includes research and production of various nuclear and non-nuclear innovative products.
Rosatom unites more than 300 enterprises and organizations, including the production of a nuclear weapons complex and the world’s only nuclear icebreaker fleet.
Several thousand purchases for Risatom are held daily on the Russian trading platforms for amounts exceeding tens of billions of rubles.
One of the main Rosatom requirements is the compliance of the purchased products with safety requirements in the field of atomic energy use.
Compliance with special safety requirements is confirmed by the product certification procedure. The functions of the state regulatory body for product certification in the field of atomic energy use were assigned to Rosatom, since the certification of equipment, products and technologies, valid until 2014, was abolished.
Certification Association “Russian Register” is accredited by Rosatom as a Product certification body, in compliance with the requirements of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 20, 2013 №612 “On accreditation in the field of atomic energy use”, for the certification of products with established mandatory requirements related to ensuring safety in the field of atomic energy use.
Certificate of conformity issued by the Russian Register allows manufacturers and suppliers of products to enter the Rosatom market.
