Transition period for ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018

Организация перехода на ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018

On September 30, 2018, the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 standard “Information technologies. Service Management. Part 1: Service Management System Requirements.” IAF agreed on a three-year transition period to the new version of ISO/IEC 20000–1:2018, starting from the official publication date.

In accordance with IAF Resolution 2018-14 since 20 March 2020 conducting of audits, including initial, surveillance and recertification audits, for conformity to the requirements of ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 will be stopped. Starting from this date all audits will be conducted only for conformity to the requirements of ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018.

The certificate holder organizations are recommended to undergo a transition audit to confirm that its system complies with the requirements of the ISO / IEC 20000–1:2018 standard prior to March 30, 2021. Transition to the requirements of the new version of the standard can be carried out in the course of:

  • planned surveillance audit;
  • planned recertification audit;
  • additional audit.

For successful transition to the international standard ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 during the transition period you need to take the following actions:

  1. Develop ISO/IEC 20000-1: 2018 transition plan;
  2. Take the training on ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 requirements;
  3. Identify the strategy of your company and stakeholders, as well as their requirements;
  4. Analyze and confirm roles and authority of persons responsible for conformity to the requirements of ISO/IEC 20000-1: 2018;
  5. Ensure meeting of all new requirements, including requirements for competence, and enhance awareness of all stakeholders which affect the energy performance improvement;
  6. Make sure that the requirements related to the documented information are understood correctly;
  7. Make sure that all new requirements are met, and communicate the information to all parties that can affect the significant energy use;
  8. Contact Certification Association “Russian Register” to plan the transition to the new standard;
  9. Complete the full cycle of internal audits for conformity to ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018
  10. Perform the management review, energy review and assess efficiency of the system.

Please note that the validity of certificates according to ISO/IEC 20000–1:2011, issued after September 30, 2018, will expire on September 29, 2021.
