On December 18, a new meeting of the International Accreditation Board on the quality of education took place in St. Petersburg. The Board was formed by the Certification Association “Russian Register” together with partners to carry out independent assessment of the quality of education in order to implement the provisions of the Federal Law “On Education in the Russian Federation” and European standards and recommendations for guaranteeing the quality of education (ESG - ENQA). It is an advisory body of the Russian Register, responsible for making decisions on international accreditation of degree programmes which passed the accreditation examination with the Russian Register.
International Accreditation Board includes representatives of Russian and international public and non-profit organizations in the field of QA, education, professional communities, employers’ associations, academic and educational institutions, and media agencies. Chairperson of the Board is Dr. S. Glazyev, Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Economic Commission of the EAEU, Doctor of Economics, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He opened the meeting of the Board presenting the concept of creating a unified educational space and an independent assessment of the quality of education in the EAEU countries in the context of Eurasian integration.
The main focus of the meeting was the results of the accreditation of the cluster of degree programmes in the field of construction at Tyumen Industrial University. Based on the results of the evaluation, TIU degree programmes were accredited for a period of 5 years, which, according to the Russian Register methodology, means a significant compliance with the requirements, based on ESG / ENQA standards and recommendations. G. Voronin, President of the All-Russian Quality Organization LLC, N.I. Vatin, nominated to work on the board by the professional association “NOSTROY”, S.V. Mikhailov, Head of the Training and Methodological Department of St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took an Active participation in the discussion of the results of the accreditation.
The meeting also addressed the issues of the “regulatory guillotine” regarding the prospects and objectives of the Russian Register in the field of independent quality of education. The rector’s view of the current situation was presented to the council by Skakovskaya L.N., acting Rector of Tver State University.
Sachkov, Chairperson of the Expert Council for the Development of Civil Education and Socialization of Students at the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, presented a broad overview on the trends in reforming the education system of the Russian Federation.
All reports regarding future changes in the educational system of the Russian Federation aroused interest among the members of the council representing the EAEU countries.
